AND NOW, ON SATURDAY NOVEMBER 5, TWO NEWLY BUILT, SINGLETRACK TRAILS, IN
MARIN---WHITE'S HILL TRAIL AND PORCUPINE TRAIL---WILL BE OPEN!
Right on! For local fat tire riders, who enjoy singletrack trails, bike
access has really improved. Of course we have a long way to go, but this
is great news for all bay area mountain bikers.
White's Hill Trail and Porcupine Trail, are both part of the Bay Area Ridge
Trail. This is a proposed 500 mile loop. Over 300 miles are currently
open. This new section will provide a new access route to Tamarancho,
via Loma Alta Open Space. Thanks go to the Ridge Trail for their work in
opening multi-use trails.
To celebrate the opening, the Ridge Trail is having a full day of dedication
activities. (www.ridgetrail.org <http://www.ridgetrail.org> for details
of the day, and also a downloadable map)
As part of the activities, Bicycle Trails Council of Marin (BTCM), Bicycle
Trails Council of the East Bay (BTCEB), and Access 4 Bikes (A4B) will be
having 2, free, advanced group rides. (see article details below). This is
your chance to ride these trails on the first day they are open to the
public.
BTCM, BTCEB, and A4B, are all local mountain bike advocacy groups, who have
worked cooperatively , with local agencies, to increase access for fat
tire riders. They have done great work, including building Tamarancho
singletrack loop, keeping fireroads open, and also helping in the
construction of these new bike-legal singletrack trails. If you are not
a member, please join now, and help us continue to fight and work for
you. To join go to: www.btcmarin.org <http://www.btcmarin.org> or
